Influence of Footwear Features on Oxygen Consumption and Running Economy: A Review

It has been reported that the new technology applied to current racing shoes increased performance of runners who use this kind footwear. This improvement proven in scientific literature relation oxygen consumption. Nevertheless, as it is a novel topic, there lack knowledge about which specific features achieve decrease consumption during running. Thus, purpose study was determine influence footwear, specifically shoe mass, cushioning system, longitudinal bending stiffness and comfort feeling on running economy. review carried out from bibliographic search main databases such PubMed, Cochrane Plus Medline considering PRISMA statement reference so an analysis results obtained together with methodological quality risk bias studies.
